Signs of Support for First Responders

Signs of Support for First Responders

By Stephen Owsinski

Signs of police support are across the sides of buildings, on roadside billboards, and just about anywhere a huge banner can fit…and it is inspiring.

Our cover photo depicts a newly erected billboard attesting to the embrace of Seattle, Washington first responders. A spokesperson for the Seattle Police Foundation posted this about the large sign of support:

“We are obsessed with this wonderful new billboard right in the heart of downtown Seattle!

“What a phenomenal New Year’s surprise to discover this message of gratitude for the men and women of @spdinthecommunity and @seattle_fire. It’s so nice to see a public display of support for Seattle’s hard-working first responders.”

When I am researching material and hungry for pertinent material, the algorithms feed me well.

I discovered the Skyline Retirement Community, whose staff and residents embrace their first responders, evidenced by signage atop their building’s main entrance.

That makes for a sincere welcoming committee whose message was pointed directly at Seattle’s Finest earnestly graced with boxed lunches.

Lord knows the brave men and women who comprise Seattle’s public safety assets sure do work up an appetite serving as lifelines.

That round of eats and accolades for Seattle’s first responders was provided about nine weeks ago.

“A huge thanks to the good folks at the Skyline Retirement Community, who provided boxed lunches for officers at all of our precincts. It was a thrill and an honor, and we truly appreciate the generosity.”

With respectful sentiments, I figure our elders have been around long enough to witness the atrocities in American society and the law enforcement officers who do their best to combat it, unrelentingly placing themselves in harm’s way so that citizens do not take the hits imposed by violent thugs and sticky-fingered thieves. Fast forward to 2024!

And the beat goes on…

The National Police Association (NPA) staff endures tireless efforts in continually supporting the law enforcement community by posting massive billboards on structures in various locales throughout the United States.

Additionally, the NPA manifested a mobile billboard campaign via a specially equipped truck projecting a lighted sign as it courses through various cities across America. This is one way to magnetize the attention of the public, signaling the crystal-clear facts to counter the nonsensical lies propagated by anti-cop jibber-jabbers.

From large- to small-scale, hitting home the Support the Police messaging is grandly multiplied by residents across the United States by staking signs in the front yards. As mentioned earlier, algorithms can feed a bounty to a truth seeker; in the context of citizens who pillar their police, ample examples were duly propped.

Each of these lawn signs was marketed for a nominal fee, the proceeds of which were an example of putting money where your mouth is, with all funds provided to the Chicago Police Department charity known as Brotherhood for the Fallen, a “non-profit organization that honorably supports the families and communities of fallen officers across the United States.  Since these brave heroes have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, our mission is to provide support to their families, departments, and communities.”

Some local businesses foot the bill for We Support Our Police signs, and that is what Dorman Products, Inc. did on behalf of the Hatfield Police Department, whose officers distributed them to residents and merchants in their Pennsylvania jurisdiction.

Sometimes support for the police comes via voting for funding law enforcement toward establishing a Safe City, such as Independence, Missouri did in 2016.

Custom signs were manufactured and distributed by the Independence Chamber of Commerce, for staking around their city.

“We have lots of yard signs available in support of the Police Sales Tax renewal! Come by and pick one up!” advertised the Chamber.

That would be another way of putting money where your mouth is. Who wouldn’t want to finance their public safety realms?

Signs, signs, everywhere… there are signs. It reminds me of the words “silent majority” bandied about not too many years ago, when the nation seemed to have been tossed like a snow globe, with everything aflutter and law enforcement square in the reticles of hateful hearts looking for something to take every responsibility for all woes. Remember that era?

Well, much of the research on this material was dated before, during, and after that era…so it seems signs supporting police took vision. It is all there, right before our eyes, with America’s first responders showing up, signing in, and hitting the streets. The usual…for which we are indebted.

One last observation: Running out of Support the Police signs is not a bad sign!
