Kean University Police Officers in Need of Assistance

The careers of five brave police officers are under threat. July 3rd a termination hearing is scheduled for Officer Alex Perez, a 20 year veteran officer and PBA rep. Another officer has received a notice he will also be terminated and 3 other Kean University police officers are facing long term suspensions. Per NJ State Campus Police PBA Local 278 the charges against these officers are a cover for retaliation against hard working police officers. Officers who are striving to uphold the law and protect the students and faculty of Kean University despite being undercut and betrayed. The acts these officers took include notifying the local prosecutor of potential crimes committed by civilian supervisors and trying to uphold their rights per the terms of their labor contract. Despite years of meritorious service their careers and livelihoods are in peril. Additionally, the safety of the students and faculty at Kean could be impacted by the removal of these officers from an already small force.
