Seattle Police Officer to Activist: I’m out

By Steve Pomper

The first thing I thought about when I saw this viral video of a Seattle cop telling a BLM activist he’d quit was, why haven’t more Seattle, Portland, New York, Minneapolis, etc. officers done this?

The first answer is cops are naturally camera shy. It used to be because of things like needing to protect their identities in the event they would work undercover or plain-clothes assignments. Today, cops have to worry that militants will dox them and then target them and their families for harassment or violence, even at their homes.

In this video, you can tell the officer has just had enough. It seems cathartic for him, and it should be a poignant message to the mayor and city council that they have not only ventured into but are camping out in lunatic land. Incidentally, no member of the Seattle City Council have expressed any concern for the officers hurt in the city’s most recent riot.

This Seattle police officer, who I’ve never met, but whom I consider a brother, reached his breaking point. But rather than express his emotions violently as the militants do, he engages one of them in a civil conversation—well, civil on the cop’s end.

And, as if proving the point of why he’s quitting, the unnamed cop begins a chat politely. And the activist doesn’t disappoint when the vile piece of filth responds with disrespect and disdain for the officer. You can hear the hatred oozing out of this guy’s pores, as he interacts with the officer.

From within his patrol car, the officer first says to the activist, “You having a good day, man?”

The activist replies, “No, not really. You’re around.”

The officer continues, “Well, I’m sorry for that. But, don’t worry, man, because guess what? I’m leaving. You guys won. Two months, baby. I’m out.

The officer appears far too young to retire, so he’s likely taking a lateral position at another law enforcement agency or is resigning and leaving police work altogether. Both are common these days.

I know an officer who just left the Seattle Police Department (SPD) after dedicating 16 years of his life to the city. He was a great, proactive officer who once loved his job. Now, he’s left law enforcement entirely. Yet another notch in Seattle government’s anti-cop belt. In fact, not only is he leaving the SPD but also he’s left Seattle—he’s out, too. He moved his family to somewhere people still respect and value their cops. He moved back to the real world where traditional America still exists. Good for him.

The activist asks the officer, “How you feeling about that?”

The officer says, “I’m feeling great.” He then reiterates, “Yeah, I’m leaving this department. You guys won.”

The activist asks for an interview, and the officer declines. The activist asks questions, anyway. “So, you were just tired of police brutality, or are you tired of what’s going on right now?”

The officer answers to the effect, “No, tired of you.”

The activist yells to his comrades, “He says he’s getting tired of us. He’s resigning because of Black Lives Matter. Not because he’s tired of the police.”

People off camera begin shouting for the officer’s badge number. Then, with seething contempt, the original activist speaks to the officer again. “Are you triggered, boy? You triggered? Oink, oink. Oink, oink, yeah.” Yes, he’s a charmer, that one.

The officer says, “I like that, man.” And then something unintelligible, which I really wish I could have made out.

The activist finishes by telling the officer whether or not he’s wearing a badge, they “will never be friends.” They will “never see eye to eye.” Well, he’s probably right about that.

As KTTH AM 770 Seattle radio host Jason Rantz puts it, “This city has turned hating cops into a sport.”

This instance is only a fraction of what Seattle and other police officers across the nation are enduring under leftist administrations. It seems it would take an Act of Congress to get some of these leftist governors, mayors, city councils, prosecutors, the media to condemn the militant’s violence—probably not even that.

A couple days ago in Portland, another video went viral, showing a militant take a running start and kicking an innocent victim in the head just after a mob had been beating him in the street. It seems he’d stopped to assist a transgender woman some militants were robbing.

A contender for worst mayors in the nation, Portland’s Ted Wheeler, spoke about the man being kicked unconscious during another of his ceaseless riots. Mayor Wheeler refused to condemn BLM or Antifa, instead, limiting himself to condemning “all violence.” Wow! What a courageous stance. Nobel Peace Prize headed your way, Teddy.

Many Seattle police officers have been subjected to verbal and physical abuse from militants whose violence has been condoned by the spineless, socialist cabal, which includes the mayor, city council members, and a city attorney who’s never seen a criminal he wanted to prosecute or a cop he didn’t want to prosecute.

Still, we’re finally beginning to see some reaping of what the radical politicians have sown. People have begun recall efforts to remove these irresponsible leaders, whom even many Democrats want gone. A quick internet search shows recall efforts in several states, including Washington and Oregon, for their governors, attorneys general, mayors, city council members, or prosecutors.

The officer seen in the video is an anomaly only in his speaking out publicly. He is among a swarm of officers bolting from the SPD. This destruction wreaked on the police department will not be easily repaired, and, if it ever is, it won’t be anytime soon. These irresponsible and unreasonable politicians want to defund and even abolish the police. Well, the city council doesn’t need to take any more votes. The abolishing of the police department is already happening.
