Enfield, CT Police Explorers Awarded Grant by the National Police Association

Indianapolis – July 6, 2025. The National Police Association announced today it has awarded the Enfield, CT Police Department’s Explorer Program a $1000.00 grant. The Police Explorers program is a nationally recognized initiative designed to introduce young adults—typically between the ages of 14 and 20—to the field of law enforcement. Through structured training, mentorship, and active community involvement, the program offers participants a unique opportunity to gain firsthand insight into the duties and responsibilities of police officers while also fostering essential life skills such as leadership, discipline, and civic engagement.

Career Exploration

The Police Explorers serve as a gateway for youth interested in careers in law enforcement or the broader criminal justice system. Participants are given an immersive look into policing through educational sessions and real-world observation.

Hands-On Experience

Explorers attend regular meetings, participate in scenario-based training, and may have the opportunity to shadow officers or assist in community events, offering a realistic understanding of modern policing.

Skill Development

The program places strong emphasis on cultivating personal growth. Participants develop leadership, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills—qualities that are valuable in any professional setting.

Community Engagement

Explorers take part in community service projects and public safety events, contributing to local initiatives and strengthening relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve.

The Enfield Police Explorers are actively recruiting members between the ages of 13 – 20. If interested, please contact Lieutenant Pedemonti at 860-763-8930 or wpedemonti@enfield.org
